And Farewell to January

  And there goes January! We have had beautiful sunny days, a little snow, a no power day, and the new playground has opened up for us! What have we been doing? 1. We have finished long division in math. 2.  We read Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh, and completed a novel study. 3.  We researched and presented "Great Ideas that Changed the World" partner projects. 4.  We have finished filming our movie for the Winter Festival and just need to finish editing it yet. 5.  We have listened to podcasts that have been helping us to decipher real information from imposters. 6.  We have listened to 47 6 minute podcasts about a mysterious person named Holliday and her hovercraft named Hovey. 7.  We have been practising how to spell words with contractions, possessives, and endings. 8.  We had a dance class where we learned some pretty cool moves. 9.  Tomorrow we are participating in the Popsicle Challenge--stay tuned. January Happenings

Our class has been super busy already this month!  We have been working on double digit division and learning alllllll the steps required to complete a problem.  Please practice at home with your child because it is very tricky for most of them.  To review the steps yourself, go to mathantics.com and watch the how to videos--he goes through the steps clearly and with good visuals. To divide, it really helps to know multiplication tables--please help your child practice those as well.   We have been reading a novel, Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh.  We read it together and individually in class but may need help with some of the question sheets at home. Last week all of the students completed the assignments on time and didn't need to do any for homework. I will let you know if your child needs to complete pages by Friday.
