May Happenings. May 17, 2021
Hi everybody! We are wrapping up the school year! We have been taking advantage of the beautiful weather on our Friday walkabouts and having classes outside when possible. Some things to note:
1. The students have each been given a science experiment/demonstration to present to the class. Please help them gather materials and prepare the demonstration. If they would rather video themselves, please send the finished video to my email address at wendy.weaver@sd78.bc.ca
2. We are starting a unit in Career and Personal Planning. Some of the topics are considered to be of a sensitive nature, in particular Human Sexuality. Please see the letter I am sending home regarding the topics we will be covering and be sure to contact me if there are any concerns about your child attending the classes.
3. The grade sixes will be heading out to Skagit on Wednesday, May 26. Please see the consent form which will be sent home tomorrow with more information. Grade 5's, don't worry, your turn will be next year.
4. On Thursday, June 3rd, our class will be making kites and going down to the beach to fly them.
5. The students came home with wooden toy trucks which they put together and sanded themselves in a special activity for Applied Skill, Design and Technology. Mr. Dunster was their teacher for the afternoon and provided this very cool project. He also taught coding to the class when he was teaching for me last.
6. Hot lunch orders are due tomorrow--Tuesday!
The following pictures are the class with their trucks, measuring perimeter outside, down at the lake last Friday sketching the mountains.
