Grade 6s at Skagit Valley

 So we had the most beautiful weather on our field trip to Skagit Valley. I have never been there before and was astounded at the beauty all around! The students loved climbing the stumps that were dotting the landscape, soon to be covered up and turned back into Ross Lake. We learned about the "riparian zone" and the animals and fish that live there. We also learned about watersheds and various types of energy. The students listened intently and gave great responses to their ideas for the best forms of energy. We had a lovely lunch in the pavilion, and I was surprised with birthday decorations and a cake! They all made me feel very special and I've decided maybe it's not so bad to turn ...sorry, just can't say it. Dates to remember: Tuesday, June 1st Wheelie Week Day for grade 5/6.  Hi everybody! We are wrapping up the school year! We have been taking advantage of the beautiful weather on our Friday walkabouts and having classes outside when possible. Some things to note: 1.  The students have each been given a science experiment/demonstratio n to present to the class. Please help them gather materials and prepare the demonstration. If they would rather video themselves, please send the finished video to my email address at wendy.weaver@sd78.bc.ca 2.  We are starting a unit in Career and Personal Planning . Some of the topics are considered to be of a sensitive nature, in particular Human Sexuality. Please see the letter I am sending home regarding the topics we will be covering and be sure to contact me if there are any concerns about your child attending the classes. 3.  The grade sixes will be heading out to Skagit on Wednesday, May 26.
